'A Study on Colour' - Artist Book
38 colour wheels are constructed using different types of
materials, paints and colours. These wheels are partly inspired
on Newton’s colour wheel, and other basic principles of colour
theory, as well as Katja Mater’s own. While rotating, the colour
wheels are photographed with a long exposure time. As a wheel
spins, the colours reflect light and blur together over time; the
film records a mix of all colours.
A Study on Color is designed by Veronica Ditting, and has a text
by Will Holder.
A Study on Colour is available in Amsterdam at Foam,
Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum, Nijhof & Lee and Shashin Books,
and at the Nederlands Fotomuseum in Rotterdam. In New York
